Brief Biography

I am currently a visiting assistant professor in the department of mathematics and computer science at Ursinus College. I previously worked at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and earned degrees from Lehigh University (M.S. and Ph.D.) and Ursinus College (B.S.), all in computer science.

I grew up on the border of Lancaster and Chester counties in Pennsylvania, first in the town of Christiana and then in the village of Gap. During college I lived in the appropriately-named Collegeville, PA, and during graduate school in Bethlehem, PA. I currently live in Williamsport, PA with my wife Rachel and her our cat Zoe.

See the link above to my professional page for information about my research and teaching. I am interested in music (see below), but spend most of my limited free time playing card games, board games, and computer games.

Personal Writing

I maintain a blog, entitled "The Blogg" as suggested by Chris Cocca based on my last name. Sometimes I write serious essays on various political, religious, or technological issues. Other times I review concerts that I have attended. Still other times, I write about details of my life that are likely interesting to no one. While I find writing valuable for its own sake, I crave your readership and comments.

Music

I consider myself an amateur musician, playing bass (competantly) and guitars and woodwinds (poorly) and occasionally singing (even more poorly). In addition to my college jazz band and several church-affiliated ensembles, I played in the short-lived folk-country-rock band The Leave Daddies. I was also the bandleader and bassist for The Sultans Of Soul, a project that was just finally getting off the ground when I moved away from the Lehigh Valley. I remain interested in musical projects of almost any sort that I could contribute to from Williamsport, PA.
